Heating And Air Conditioning Systems

Heating and air conditioning systems have the dual function of heating your home in winter and keeping it cool in the summer months. They can be fueled by gas, oil and electricity. There are some systems that are powered using solar or wind power but they are quite unusual at the moment.

There is no other system that will heat and cool your home but that doesn’t mean that a HVAC system is perfect. Some people especially those that live in areas affected by high humidity often complain about the quality of the indoor air. Some people will experience incidences of breathing illnesses such as Asthma. Do not suffer in silence but speak to your heating and air conditioning contractor. Companies like Hatfield Heating and Air take client concerns seriously. They will be able to give you some solutions to the problem including perhaps a recommendation to install a humidifier in the bedrooms.

If you are moving home, you should make an appointment with a HVAC contractor to review the heating system in your new house. It may have been adequate for the previous occupants but you are likely to have different needs and expectations. If you have lived in your home for a few years, it is also worth having a chat with a specialist. Systems are being modernized all the time and these newer ones can be more efficient i.e. burn less energy while doing a better job. See for yourself on offer. The reduction in your energy bills may be sufficient to cover the cost of the new installation.

You should have your HVAC system regularly serviced. This will highlight any problems that need to be repaired hopefully before they become a major problem. Failure to carry out regular checks is a false economy. You will end up paying higher fuel costs if your system isn’t working at optimum level never mind the fact that it may have to be replaced prematurely. Always follow the instruction for changing filters etc to keep the system working well.

Where you live and the type of home you live in will determine what the best home heating method will be. You don’t want to end up with the wrong type of heating system because this could end up costing you more money than you actually need to be spending. There are three main types of heating. Oil burning, gas furnaces, electric furnaces and hot water heating systems all make up the forced warm air heating systems. Depending on the style of your home and the fuel costs in your area, you will choose between one of these methods. The goal is to provide yourself with the best Gas furnace efficiency so that you are getting the most for your money.

If you live in a state that is warm for most of the year, you will most likely have a hot water heating system. They are less efficient than the other systems and are usually found in older homes. They use steam instead of hot water to provide heat. People who live in warm areas usually don’t heat their homes, so efficiency is not the most necessary thing for them. Oil burning furnaces are the most common forced warm air heating systems. They have high efficiency and distribute warm air evenly throughout the whole house. Electric furnaces use electric heating elements as well as a fan. Even though it is not a gas furnace, efficiency is at 100% because all of the power generated is turned into heat. This method of heating is the most expensive, because it will raise the electric bill.

Gas furnaces burn propane or natural gas. Gas furnace efficiency is measured by the AFUE, the Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency. The higher a model is rated, the higher the efficiency is. Most of these systems have a rating higher than 85%. Trane gas furnaces have a 95% AFUE, making them some of the most efficient systems in the industry.

To obtain the highest gas furnace efficiency, the unit must have an exhaust fan. These fans control the the air and gasses flowing through the furnace. The fans help them to be more precise in their direction. This way the energy is not being wasted. The pipes are also smaller so that any air leakage is minimized. You will need to determine which type of furnace will best meet your heating needs so that you are getting the most for your money when you heat your home.
